Green waste collection


N.B.: Wheeled bins (except blue recycling bins) are acceptable.
Branches and tree trimmings are not accepted (see Branches and Tree Trimmings section).

Collection dates

Acceptable materials
  • dead leaves
  • grass clippings
  • flowerbed and garden waste
  • pumpkins and fallen fruit from trees
  • hay
  • cedar branches
Acceptable containers
  • Brown paper bag (on sale in most hardware stores and home renovation centres)
  • Metal or plastic container, equipped with handles, of a maximum total weight of 25 kg or 55 lbs (maximum capacity of approximately 100 litres)
  • Cardboard box
  • Large wheeled bin of a maximum weight of 100 kg (mechanical lifting only, not manual) (with the exception of blue bins used for recyclables)

Tips for using paper bags

  • Limit the delay between bagging your green waste and the collection day;
  • Protect your paper bags from rain before collection day
  • Use plastic sheeting to protect your paper bags the day before the collection (under and above the bags)

Note that the contractor is responsible for collecting green waste that has fallen to the ground during collections.

Please note that the Matrec (Grande-Allée) and Marie-Victorin écocentres accept:
  • green waste
  • branches, including cedar branches (maximum length of 2.5 metres)
  • uncontaminated peat and soil
  • tree trimmings
