Since September 2015, the City of Brossard has been renovating the Hôtel de ville (city hall). The work, which will be completed in summer 2017, includes complete replacement of the masonry, windows and roof, as well as construction of a public square in front. The structure and the overall design esthetic will be preserved. The project also includes optimization of work spaces and the replacement of mechanical systems (air conditioning, heating, fire protection, etc.).
Energy efficient components (LED lighting, air conditioning, high performance windows, green roof, etc.) integrated into the project will considerably decrease energy consumption. In addition, the main entrances have been redesigned to encourage active mobility and access for people with reduced mobility. The integration of plants and grassed surfaces will contribute not only to beautify the space, but also to reduce the heat island effect.
